JUDY STERNBERG – QUILTER – A VIRTUAL QUILT SHOW

One of my favorite quilts. It was a very labor intensive quilt to make because it is done by hand needle turn appliqué. Once again color choice was very important to me. I enjoyed using blue to make the other colors pop.

WELCOME TO FALL! This has become a favorite type of binding I do because it is all machine done.

INTRODUCTION TO A FALL QUILT SHOW

                                       BY LORELIE OLSON

In recent decades quilting has become recognized as more than a functional craft.  It can also be an art form that uses both traditional and modern techniques to create stunning fIber art.  The rise of museum exhibits and quilt shows has fostered an expanding appreciation for the artistic individual expression of materials, content, and form in displayed quilts.

The featured artist in our first virtual quilt show is Judy Sternberg, a long-time quilter and member of Plain Lazy Quilters.  Judy has a special talent for choosing fabrics, colors and design elements; she is also noted for her skills in stitching and appliqué.  Her quilting has resulted in useful as well as beautiful fiber art, including table runners, wall hangings, baby quilts, and bed quilts.

                                       ENJOY THE SHOW!

One of my favorite things about quilting is working with color.  This wall hanging is machine appliqué.

Love the turkey!
The recipe is one of my favorites, BTW. A dear friend shared it with me many years ago. Believe it or not, the pie is placed on a cookie sheet and baked in a brown paper bag.
This is a baby quilt I made for a great niece. Her parents were doing a jungle themed decor.
The blocks in this quilt
The blocks in this quilt
were all created from this fabric.

The method is called 4 stack because fabric is stacked in fours layers in exactly the same position.  Then 4 & 1/2 inch squares are cut from the fabric. The 4 exact same squares are then sewn together with the same corners facing the center point to make a larger square.  As you can see each square is different.
