We started the year with
Great Expectations
but then came a form of
The Andromeda Strain,
which soon evolved into
The Plague,
although our leader said it was
Much Ado About Nothing.
They closed the borders, no
Crossing to Safety,
and we realized we were in
A Brave New World.
Isolating from family felt like
One Hundred Years of Solitude,
birthdays and weddings were
Gone With the Wind,
but we stayed home, grateful to have
A Room with a View.
Each takeout meal was
A Moveable Feast.
Now we find ourselves in
The Winter of Our Discontent ,
awaiting a COVID vaccine like
Waiting for Godot,
wings clipped, trapped inside,
I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.
