A VIRTUAL CHRISTMAS QUILT SHOW – QUILTS BY GINA WILKINS – TEXT BY LORELIE OLSON

Our featured artist this week is quilter Gina Wilkins.  This virtual quilt show is another example of her love of making seasonal quilts, and features favorite Christmas quilts  from her extensive  collection.  She has used varied techniques as well as some unusual fabric and color choices.

The first two quilts feature center panels based on old-fashioned illustrations or original drawings.

The next quilt is a “scrappy quilt,” with assorted Santa  blocks arranged at angles, utilizing traditional Christmas colors.

One of my favorite quilts features red cardinals perched on greenery, with alternating geometric patches.

The next quilt represents a cooperative effort of the Plain Lazy Quilters. Each member made several patches of a single design, then shared these with other quilters.  The result was a bright quilt with many different design patches done with paper piercing and organized by each individual quilter.

Another personal favorite of mine is a quilt  with rows of holiday motifs.  I especially like the row of angels!!

May the colors of the holiday season bring you comfort and joy!
