THE OREGON GARDEN INSPIRES VISITORS

Photos & Text By Lorelie Olson

On our way to the Oregon Coast we stayed at the Oregon Garden Resort in Silverton for more garden inspiration.  We anticipated wonderful late spring walking and viewing in the the 80 acre botanical gardens, highly recommended by my garden club friends!!

ARRIVAL

After checking in we found our suite in one of the  Craftsman guest cottages.  It had a private deck surrounded by greenery and we could walk to the Garden Entrance.

THE NORTHWEST GARDEN

We walked past a variety of stunning trees, shrubs, and ground covers in the Northwest Garden.  Although we recognized many of them, some unfamiliar plants caught our attention and helped us decide to incorporate something new in our landscape.

GARDEN ART & SPECIAL EFFECTS

We were intrigued by the striking and often playful garden art in the flower gardens, as well as the special effects in shaped flower beds.

WATER GARDENS

We especially enjoyed the ponds and fountains in the Water Gardens.  One lilypad-covered pond had a “sea serpent” visible above the water, and a special fountain was shaped like small children looking at the water.  Tim even discovered a new “dog friend” and gave it a goodbye pet!

DEPARTURE

We had a fine time in the gardens!  Next week we invite you to tour gardens in North Carolina!
