FOR SUE T’S 80th BIRTHDAY – LAKE QUINAULT MEMORIES – By Lorelie & Tim Olson

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUE!

From Lorelie & Tim

LAKE QUINAULT MEMORIES

It’s a stormy Friday night on February 20th. The Winnebago sways down the highway; the wipers barely keep up with the rain.  At fifty miles per hour, Sue is sliding out of the driver’s seat while Tim is sliding into the driving seat and Kate huddles between the front seats,  listening to Tom T Hall sing “And then sneaky snake goes dancing;
Wiggling and a-hissing . . .” While Lorelie & Virg chat at the table, Sara, Karl, and Paul are giggling at the back of the van.  A strong smell of ripening chili escapes from the 8 quart kettle wobbling on the stove.  Kate asks, “How long before we reach Lake Quinault Lodge?”

The rain slackens and the lodge emerges from the mist or is it “Brigadoon”?

LIFE AT THE LODGE

Mornings begin early with Tim sipping coffee and homesteading a table in the restaurant for three hours. As the spirit awakens each one, they arrive for breakfast in shifts, have conversations and then stroll away to begin the day.

We read by the fire, visit with each other and our guests, play games, splash in the pool and go out to the Winnebago to gradually devour the chili as it gets stronger by the hour.

Frank, Dick and Carol Jean join us for a weekend

We always celebrate the final night with a GALA dinner and conversation with each other and our favorite server, Barb.

DEPARTURE MORNING

WE HOPE THESE PICTURES BRING BACK HAPPY MEMORIES
