A Pacific Northwest native, I have been writing poetry over 40 years. My poems reflect a woman’s journey through the later years, with recurring themes of loss and renewal.
THE FABRIC OF OUR LIVES
I believe we are all connected,
no encounters come by chance,
every path that crosses
is part of an unseen plan,
so I wonder, now we’ve met,
how we will weave each other
into the fabric of our lives.
Will we be a single thread
that’s quickly lost amidst
the tangled mazes
of each other’s labyrinths,
or will we knit
ourselves together
with warp and woof
until we twine
into a braided rug,
or like a timeworn T-shirt,
tied in knots and dipped
in dye, will we surprise
each other, unfold
ourselves slowly to reveal
a kaleidoscope of color,
neon pink, chartreuse
and purple, splashed
in ever-wider circles
that radiate and seep
across old boundaries,
changing everything.
