In GULLIVER’S TRAVELS Lemuel travels the world over and returns home to England embittered about the world of men. He finds solace in his horses and spends the majority of his remaining days in the barn conversing with his two stallions.
During the years of my caring for horses I found that often our friends anticipated spending time with the horses. Horses are social and curious animals. While we might enjoy a cup of tea with friends the ponies will gladly share a carrot or two. They might greet a gathering with a whinny or add a snuffle or two, mostly they are attentive participants and eager for a stroke or two in the right places. If time permits, they might like to go for a stroll or maybe even a ride around the property.
Unlike Gulliver, our guests are not sour about the world, but like Gulliver they find the horses engaging and like to spend some time relating to each other.
