Grand sweeps of colorful massed plantings inside the flower and garden show help to counteract the grey and misty weather outside. They offer inspiration for our own gardens during the coming weeks. Even small groups of colorful hardy flowers provided ideas for tiny spaces around decks, trees, and in planters.
SWEEPS OF COLOR
“ONE OF THE MOST DELIGHTFUL THINGS ABOUT A GARDEN IS THE ANTICIPATION IT PROVIDES,” W. E. JOHNS
Closely packed plantings provided the biggest visual impact, and displays ranged from a variety of hues to limited or contrasting choices.
SMALL GROUP PLANTINGS
“If you’ve never experienced the joy of accomplishing more than you can imagine, plant a garden.” – Robert Brault
Nurseries and garden shops already offer a wide variety of early bloomers: heathers, azaleas, narcissus and other bulbs, ferns, violas, pieris . . . Enjoy your garden planning and planting! Stay tuned for more ideas from the garden show, from Lee’s inspired photographic visit and Lorelie’s informative notes!
“There can be no other occupation like gardening in which, if you were to creep up behind someone at their work, you would find them smiling.” – Mirabel Osler

You two do such a great job of writing and publishing the photos. Spring is on the way!

Enjoying these beautiful pics as I sit longing for Spring to come to the mountains.
Once again, you did it! Made me marvel at the lovely photos, and nod at the great quotes and narrative. Thank you!
