COZY CATS VII- “ARTHUR – THE ONCE AND FUTURE CAT” By Tim & Lorelie

Conjecture exists about how Arthur arrived in Olsons’ yard. Did he hitch a ride in someone’s car? Was he a stray? Did he follow one of the boys home? What Tim recalls is that on a pleasant September afternoon he was sitting in the yard reading T. H. White’s classic novel, THE ONCE AND FUTURE KING, when this ball of white fluff landed in his lap, put his paws on Tim’s chest and looked at him with his very crossed blue eyes. Within a week after a few futile attempts to find out where he belonged, the ball of fluff, now King Arthur, established his CAMELOT with us and we were now part of his COURT.

While Arthur was handsome, confident, playful, and loads of fun, truth be told he wasn’t very smart, could be clumsy, a mischief maker, and often found himself in self-made predicaments.  Agnes, our aging tabby, found him a downright nuisance and a challenge to her previous authority.  Our two golden retrievers, the pony sized JD and the beautiful Amber, welcomed Arthur with open paws and warm tummies!

Arthur’s insatiable curiosity together with his low impulse control kept life interesting in Arthur’s court. We could watch him climb a tree with no way down; go up the street on top of a car and get stuck in a cupboard. He also spent two days in a locked garage and once showed up at Grandma’s house in the middle of the night. Indeed, Arthur had adventures!

Parties were big in Arthur’s court.  What could be better than all the guests providing laps, praising the king’s antics like showing up at odd places, diving from counters into bags or playing with with other pets! Whether a holiday, a birthday, or an evening get together – Arthur was always present.

THANK YOU FOR REMEMBERING ARTHUR WITH US!

  1. So great! I just love how this cross-eyed fluffball showed up in the Olson’s world! And enjoyed a laugh when I read “low impulse control”. Such fun and funny pictures.

  2. Hard to describe the total joy in meeting and getting to know King Arthur….fortunately on more than one occasion! He was an exception in every possible way!! How special it is when an animal seeks and identifies the forever home that meets his every need. That was clearly the case with his surprise hello to Tim and Lorelie when he soared through the air in their garden and landed on Tim’s lap!! The rest is history. Arthur….you brought so much creativity and joy to those you chose as being PURRRRFECT for you!!!! You are missed, but NEVER FORGOTTEN!!
