My father had a saying: “Cold hands, warm heart.” On these cold days Tim and I can have warm hands as well as warm hearts if we drink our favorite hot beverages from special mugs. We invite you to join us as we sip and reminisce.
PONDEROSA MUGS
During our years in Ponderosa we had mugs stacked on cabinet shelves and hanging from a “MUGS” rack hanging over the counter. Since Paul and Toni moved there, the collection has been pruned for everyday use, with most mugs now in Everett. The few remaining are most meaningful and useful! A Sitka mug is Paul’s usual choice for coffee, my bird mug was a gift from Toni and Tim’s mug travelled with him on boats and between homes. The heart mugs are perfect for soup and the nautical mugs are used for our coffee on departure for Everett.
FLOWER AND GARDEN MUGS
I have always had a flower garden, and many of our trips have included garden tours. Several mugs in my collection reflect these experiences in my home gardens and travels to Norway, England, Scotland, and Hawaii. The English Portmerion and Dunoon mugs feature flowers with bees, butterflies, and dragonflies. Gift mugs and other travel mugs include Hawaiian flowers, a pair of Norwegian mugs, small apple and pear mugs, and two that feature traditional English cottage gardens. Look carefully, and you can spot both sides of the last two mugs.
NOSTALGIC MUGS
Certain mugs bring special memories of our life experiences with cats, music, fishing, sailing, and even tea with our mothers. Many were gifts from family and friends, so we appreciate these mugs each time we sip!
We do use some mugs more than others, but we like them all! We do hope you enjoyed this view of the collection, and take time to savor beverages in your own memorable mugs.
