Patricia Hammill and Keith Olson, two of our favorite and faithful contributors, are brought together in this post to share with you their splendid art focused on the transformation of butterflies and the human spirit. “Transformation” comes to us from the joining of the prefix, “trans” and the noun, “formation”. Together they mean a thorough change from an earlier visible structure to an underlying structure. A caterpillar becomes a butterfly that no longer crawls but can fly and navigate the length of a continent. With a human a second transformation may take place where the current inner being transforms the inner life of the human to a new state of being.

TRANSFORMATION
By Patricia Hammill
Though our world may crumble,
Lo, we shall blossom,
And airborne,
Discover unknown, enchanted regions
Which, once claimed
Shall be our own, forgiving in resplendence
The former pain of existence.
