“EQUILIBRIUM” A Cathy Ross Poem

You are invited to spend time today reading Cathy Ross’s new poem, EQUILIBRIUM and revisiting Mike Cohen’s poem ARISE.

EQUILIBRIUM, and ARISE, speak to those times when we are in transition from one stage in our lives to another. During those times, we often find ourselves uncertain and confused. What we are doing isn’t working and what lies ahead is puzzling and causes anxiety. While EQUILIBRIUM’S subject is about those anxious times, ARISE is a call to action. You and I must “dig” deep and find the courage to sing a new “song”.

You will find Mike’s poem, ARISE in the FEATURED posts in the menu.

EQUILIBRIUM

CATHY ROSS

I need to get away

every now and then

to re-calibrate myself,

to find my center

and regain my sense

of balance.  You see,

I get tipped over

from leaning

into problems, begin

listing to one side,

taking on water,

with no time to bail.

I lose sight

of the horizon

as if it has vanished,

pat my pockets

looking for the map

I used to have.

I feel turned inside out

like an umbrella in the wind,

run down like an old

clock that no one

remembered  to wind.

It is time to find

  a sheltered harbor

where I can sit very still

and focus on the line

where the sea meets the sky,

then memorize this moment

so I can have it with me

when I return again

to the chaos of my life.
