You are invited to join Toni and me for a final summer review! Summer extended beyond Labor Day this year, and our family and friends enjoyed a wide variety of experiences in several locations.

SUNNY EVERETT CELEBRATION
The EVERETT WATERFRONT PLACE MARINA was again the site of celebrations! The weather was warm and sunny, and children jumped and giggled in the PLAZA SPLASH FOUNTAIN.
We celebrated my 85th birthday on the “real” day and in anticipation of Paul’s and Karl’s July birthdays! Toni, Michelle and Tim joined the festivities. We all enjoyed toasts all around and a delicious dinner at FISHERMAN JACK’S restaurant.
ALL SMILES AT THE PARTY!
TONI BARKED “ONE MORE SNAP . . .”
KARL, PAUL & I ERUPTED IN GRINS AND LAUGHTER!
Savoring the different cuisines offered in Waterfront Place continued with Bill and Jeanne Whitlow joining Tim & me for lunch at ANTHONY’S in Marina Village overlooking Port Gardner Bay & Whidbey Island.
Previously we had told Jeanne & Bill many stories about our family sailboat. With her moorage only a stroll away from Anthony’s we couldn’t resist a visit to Freyja.
POTLUCKS, GARDENING, WILDLIFE & HIKES HIGHLIGHTED SUMMER IN PONDEROSA
Hollyhocks and a variety of bright, colored flowers flourished with Toni’s “green thumb” and hard work!
Toni & Paul do not have to leave home to daily experience wildlife. “Sika bird”, a swallow, awakens them each dawn at their bedroom window. Turkeys invade daily and must be shooshed away! Mama and baby raccoons set up residence beneath the deck and at night tip over the pond pump. The deer are happy to help prune the shrubs.
By late summer sunset, Sika and her family are ready to relax!
A SERENE TIME IN KINGSTON & A FESTIVE TIME IN PORT TOWNSEND
We enjoyed staying in Kingston at the Port Gamble Bay cottage of friends Cathy and David. It was a convenient spot for our day trip to the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival.
Freyja was one of over 300 boats in the festival and we were two of thousands of visitors on the Friday ater Labor Day!
We enjoyed time on Freyja with nephew Alan, Michelle, Karl and many visitors who admired Karl’s work preparing Freyja for the festival. We strolled the piers and admired the boats ranging in length from skiffs to over one hundred feet. Visitors listened intently as Karl told the story of Freyja’s fifty years of history in our family.
We were tuckered out after the active day at the festival and delighted to return to the cottage, relax and enjoy a beautiful sunset!
Thank you for viewing our late summer highlights!
STAY TUNED . … we will have a more detailed post from Michelle about the Port Townsend Festival!
