When Alaska fisherfolk have finished a time at sea and the salmon are chilling in the hold, they head for town. They unload, make repairs, renew supplies, tell stories, and spend time with friends and family.
In two previous posts, Hans Weinberg’s marvelous photography revealed the life of the salmon trollers at sea. LIFE ON THE BOARDWALK chronicles and displays the time spent in town!
This post invites you to take a stroll on the boardwalks of Pelican and meet the fisherfolk! A few of them were born there, others arrived from diverse backgrounds, and for a variety reasons. Some didn’t even last a season while others stayed for a lifetime.

UNDERWAY FOR THE FISHING GROUNDS
Hi There,
Thanks for spending time with Hans and his photographic chronicle of fisherfolks’ life at sea trolling for salmon and in town on the boardwalk.
The fisherfolk have unloaded their salmon, made repairs, prepped for the next trip, played and now return to the fishing grounds!
