DOG FRIENDS FROM THE PAST
Dear Reader,
I invite you to share some special photographs and memories of the dog companions Tim and Ihave had during our long marriage. Although our first dogs were Labrador Retrievers, in 1964 we eventually realized that Golden Retrievers were a perfect match for us: patient with children, gentle with cats, and affectionate, active companions for us.
Our first Golden was Trisha. Our “nearly perfect” companion: Beautiful, friendly with dogs, people, and cats, and attentive with children. She excelled in obedience classes!
She was joined by Cosby, a black lab mix who would race Trisha for tennis balls and Oliver, a stray cat who adopted us.
A TATTERED BALL
By Lorelie Olson
A tattered ball
Whizzed through the air,
Chased by a dog
With golden hair.
The race was on
Through vine and brush
As another dog
Joined in the rush!
A flash of gold,
A glimpse of black,
Both doggy friends
Were on the track.
At last a yelp,
A frantic hustle,
And out of the bushes,
Straining each muscle,
Appeared the victor
In the ball chase.
(Which dog do you think
Won the race?)
Joining Trisha later was Zodiac, our “gentle giant”.
They were good companions on walks, beach trips, and swims with Tim in Puget Sound.
After Trisha and Zodiac, our next Golden was puppy Amber, a shy beauty.
As Amber aged, we brought J. D.Into the family. He was a mischievous big boy who adored Amber, liked our cats, and was a comic with a sweet tooth and rug fetish! He liked to travel, swim, and hike!
Here is JD ready for a hike with me, Keith and Tim. At the time we had a cabin shared with friends on the Wenatchee River. Soon we would move to a new home nearby.
Our last Golden was Lacey, a gorgeous athlete, confident hiking and swimming partner, and quiet home companion. Children and cats adored her, and she kept watch overall of our visitors!
Now it’s time to relax with our furry friends!
I hope you have enjoyed these scrapbook vignettes! Stay tuned for more!

Lorelie – I enjoyed this so much. I met most of your dogs over the years and have fond memories of them. We go all the way back to Trisha! What lovely photos and stories ❤️
