Welcome and thank you for returning to Wallace Island with us. We invite you to share in the continuing saga of this “once in a lifetime” opportunity.  Will this “magical” experience last for a “lifetime?” Do read on and we will try to satisfy your curiosity about what happened after our early experiences on Wallace Island!

HOW WE CHANGED THE WAYS WE EXPERIENCED WALLACE ISLAND

THE JOURNEY TO WALLACE

The car, ferry, and launch remained the most used option but frequently transportation to and from the island was by private boat. Dave and Jan travelled aboard the their cruiser “Sea Rose”. Co-owners Wagars and Bievers came on their sailbot “Klatawakah”. Lorelie and Tim sailed on their sloop “Freyja”.  Navigating through the San Juan Islands  to and from Wallace became part of the adventure!

ON WALLACE ISLAND

As children became older, we brought more friends to Wallace.  Within a day of settling in, our lives were centered on our activities on the island.  We, our kids and guests all enjoyed freedom to hike, explore, swim, and relax  in the evening.

EPILOGUE

Legal and financial realities  confronted Wallace Island’s   “magic” in our lives. The developers were unable to fulfill obligated contracts. Owners couldn’t agree on a joint ownership plan.  The island became a marine park in British Columbia. We found solace in knowing we could still return by boat to remember that Wallace Island was a “once in a lifetime experience”.  So we invite you to share two of those nostalgic trips.
