Tim and I invite you to share our special memories of September visits to Cathy’s Cottage. We enjoyed many sunny, warm days in the Kitsap Peninsula area. We visited towns, gardens, restaurants and shops, but always returned to the cottage’s serene setting at the end of the day.

CATHY'S COTTAGE
Cathy’s college is special and has a story. A Norwegian plasterer, Victor Knuth, built the Mediterranean style cabin in 1949. He did all of the building and finish work. Outside he planted rhododendrons, and installed a pond. Then in 1972 he abandoned the property! The second owner, Dr. Wickersham, rented out the property and it deteriorated until Cathy bought it in 1988.
Since then, the “promise” David and Cathy had envisioned for the property became a reality. Cathy and David cut back blackberries and grass replaced the brush. They added a master suite and guest cottage.
A patio off the kitchen for morning sun, coffee and croissants.
The builder’s grandson and wife once came to see all the changes including new steps to the beach and bay!
EXCURSIONS
A RESTAURANT TO REMEMBER
We enjoyed the cuisine in several restaurants from Poulsbo to Port Hadlock. “Molly Ward’s Garden”, offering a unique combination of outside garden “rooms” and inside elegant dining was our favorite.
A GARDEN TO VISIT AGAIN AND AGAIN . . .
Our garden outings included the newly renovated Heronswood Gardens, a formerly private garden and now restored and operated by the S’Kallam tribe.
THE COTTAGE EVENING
After our afternoon adventures, we would relax on the front patio, stretch our legs, sip David’s signature gin and tonics and have interesting conversations.
If the evening proved warm enough, we would stroll to the picnic table and have our supper outside. Replete with our fill of food from Cathy’s gourmet menus, all that was left for us was to watch the peaceful sunset ending the day.
Before we say goodbye to the cottage, we have one more message:
