KEITH OLSON – PHOTOGRAPHER – SERIES III

Thankfully, Mr. Woodpecker (known as Red-Headed) did not take our wooden feeder down to a splinter.  They do also feast on insects, berries, fruits, and even small animals!!  Very colorful, easy to detect not only visually,

but audibly should they decide to dine on anything wooden!!

Hard to resist the bright beauty of the male cardinal!  This photo was taken on a cold, snowy day as evidenced by the icy collection in the hanging lantern.  We always seem to have an abundance of cardinal couples.
This image seems to be saying....OK guys, everyone look to your right!  These precious tiny birdies are perched on a fence between our property and the neighbors.  It serves as a handy going or coming approach!!!.
On a cold March day, we had a surprise visit from a Cooper’s Hawk.  This was the first we had actually seen on our property.  Feel sure he eliminated one of the precious chipmunks,  If so, am thankful I was not a witness!                              Like all birds of preys, agility and keen vision supports their successful search for food.
Nothing more amusing then a cheery little chipmunk preparing for the cold weather.  He makes very sure he has enough seed stored in his multiple tunnels.  I can envision him on a recliner with a Bud Light enjoying sports...                             that’s assuming he has cable hook-up!!

  1. I too love to watch for the Winter Birds. Once the Bears are hibernating my seed feeders and suet cakes go up. I enjoyed your great photography and am reminded that our Northwest birds are different then yours, I assume you live on the East Coast.

  2. Hi Gina…and thank you SO much for leaving a comment. I am very guilty of being a nature nerd! Something wonderful and amazing is always there waiting to be discovered! I am cursed with photography as my cameras and computer will confirm. Jerry and I live in Greensboro, NC (where I was born and mostly raised). During visits with Tim and Lorelie, we were treated to the incredible bounty of West Coast beauty. Of course, that was home to Jerry for much of his youth. I felt fortunate to score big photographing your beautiful wildlife whenever we were out there. Thanks again for stopping by my posts! More to follow!
