PONDEROSA SCRAPBOOK – PIZZA PICNIC AT JILL’S & RENE’S – Photos by Maureen Mitchell; Text by Lorelie Olson

After five months away from Ponderosa we were determined to spend a few days there to enjoy the fresh air, garden,  walks, and visits with our friends and neighbors. After  a drive over Stevens Pass in a spring snowstorm  we were greeted by Paul, Toni, and Spirit, and a garden that was free of snow!

On our last evening, Jill and Rene treated us and our neighbors to an outdoor  picnic pizza party!  The party featured a pizza oven designed and built by Rene and Christine. Now, how wonderful is that? The weather cooperated with sunshine and (nearly) warm temperatures as we gathered around campfires and overflowing food tables!

Christine rolled out the dough and we took turns creating pizzas from a variety of toppings including three kinds of peppers, flavored hamburger, several cheeses, pepperoni, pineapple and much, much more!  Our host Rene’ kept busy at the oven baking and delivering the pizzas.

All the guests (canine as well as human) enjoyed the pizza party! Human guests ate, drank, talked, and laughed; canine guests reposed in a variety of behaviors with one asleep and the other two ready to play and, if they were quick, enjoy a snack!

A big thank you from our grateful family of neighbors: Maureen, Paul, Toni, Tammy, Frank, Christine, Lorelie and Tim to our hosts Jill and Rene’!
