THE ROMANCE OF SPRING – photos: Lee Lageschulte & Lorelie Olson – Songs: Vidal, Wolf, Traditional Flemish

Spring is a heady time of year, exciting our senses with color, fragrance, and the sweet sounds of birdsong. Gardens come alive again with fountains and wind chimes. No wonder that composers have long paid tribute to the season and its romantic appeal! Join Lee and Lorelie as they explore the special beauties of this long awaited spring!

NEW SPRING

Azure skies spread so wide and bright,

No more clouds and their dark shadows falling;

Singing birds stretch soft wings and light,

As among the leaves they are calling.

The flowers are growing in the grass.,

They strive til ev’-ry bud uncloses;

Gay butterflies each morning pass,

To seek the lilacs and the roses.

FRAGRANT FLOWERS ARE BLOWING

Fragrant flowers are blowing:

Happy songs are flowing,

O’er thy vales and meads today,

As gaily thro’ the woods we stray,

To the fountain going.

TIS SPRING

Spring upon the breeze again

Waves her banner’s glowing splendor;

Sweet, and bright with mem-‘ries tender,

Fragrance wanders o’er the plain,

Violets dreaming fair

Soon will wake to greet us;

Hark! from afar

Soft harp tones fill the air!

Spring, yes,’tis the Spring!

Spring, yes, ’tis the spring!

I knew soon t’ would meet us!

Yes, ‘Tis Spring!
