“WATER MOODS” IN WORDS AND PICTURES

Lorelie invites you to explore  the varied emotions elicited through the wonderful pictures taken by five photographers. Do reflect on the feelings created by the photos. You may find yourself reminiscing about special experiences you have had near water.

HAVE YOU HEARD THE CRICKET SING

By Winston O. Abbot

“. . . for the music of water

is the music of life – and

each heart needs the sound

of singing waters – as each

spirit needs a place of solitude.”

Water in swimming pools changes its look more than in any other form. Its color can be man-made and its dancing rhythms reflect not only the sky, but because of its transparency, the depth of the water as well.

If the water surface is almost still and there is a strong sun, then dancing lines with the colours of the spectrum appear everywhere.  – David Hockney

“If there is magic on this planet, it is contained in water.”                         Loren Eiseley

”The still waters of a lake reflect the beauty around it. When the mind is still, the beauty of the Self is seen reflected in it.”                  B.K.S Iyengar

”The river has great wisdom and whispers its secrets to the hearts of men.”

Mark Twain, American writer, from “Life on the Mississippi” (1883).

“May what I do flow from me like a river, no forcing and no holding back, the way it is with children.”

Rainer Maria Rilke, German poet, from “Rilke’s Book of Hours” (1905).

“On the low-tide beach

Everything we stoop

To pick . . .

Moves in our fingers”

Chiyo Ni

DOGS and BEACHES  THE PERFECT COMBINATION FOR HAPPINESS

“Because of the dog’s joyfulness, our own is increased.  It is no small gift.”

Mary Oliver (poet, “Dog Songs”}
