THE ALLURE

SEA FEVER

John Masefield

I must go down to the sea again, for the call of the running tide

Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;

And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,

And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

THE POWER

APOSTROPHE TO THE OCEAN

Lord George Gordon Byron

Roll on, thou deep and dark blue ocean,  Roll!

                                .     .     .     .

Thou glorious mirror, where the Almighty’s form

   Glasses self in tempest; in all time,

Calm or convulsed; in breeze, or gale or storm,

   Icing the pole, or in the torrid clime,

   Dark heaving, and sublime; –

  1. So enjoyed your water connections and photos, Lorelei. I , too, sometimes long for but am grateful for the life I lived on the sea, fishing, sailing, listening, watching…and truly blessed to still visit and spend cherished moments on the water. Thank you. Nancy O
