During this mid-summer season, welcome to the mountains to savor a day in a country garden. Through photographs, descriptions and haiku Toni and I will share with you the joy Tim and I experience in Shady Grove garden. After many years living here, Shady Grove is now a second home for us. Paul & Toni now live here, tend the garden and always make us feel at home when we arrive for a few days. Toni and Paul have also continued the tradition of making Shady Grove welcome to friends, neighbors and family. Now, that includes you!

MORNING
A morning chorus
with birdsongs of coos, chirps, tweets
wakes me up . . . too early!

The fountain, pond, birdbaths and hummingbird feeders attract a variety of birds to bathe and drink! Nearby trees offer shelters and perches, even space for a robin’s nest.

AFTERNOON
On a hot summer day, swimming in an outdoor pool above the rippling Wenatchee River beach is so refreshing! Spirit and Sika, Toni’s golden retrievers enjoy their river swims with her. After drying off, they are ready for naps.
After naps, it is shady enough for us to walk around the garden, enjoy the flowers, – and cut a bouquet.
EVENING
Twilight brings time to relax after a delicious fresh green salad from the garden and halibut filet for dinner! If we sit quietly we will be honored watching resident deer sip, browse, then bed down for the night.
After a perfect summer day, from morning to evening, the moon reminds us it is time to sleep. The sky is still light, the breeze ruffles through sumacs and firs, and lulls us . . .
Thank you for spending a sunny summer day with the Olsons at Shady Grove! We hope you had an enjoyable visit to our country home!
Lovely and evokes good memories
Certainly a little piece of heaven!
