“STAR-CROSSED -for david” – A POEM BY CATHY ROSS aBOUT a lONG LASTING RELATIONSHIP

Cathy Ross, a favorite contributor to the NESTER, returns with a poem about relationships. Why do some couples last despite the odds? And after all that is written on the subject, is any more valid than the horoscope? Perhaps what is fortunate and true is that much of what holds us together is a wonderful mystery.

STAR-CROSSED

 for David

by Cathy Ross

You are truly a Pisces my love,

swimming serenely through life,

calm and steady,

saying it’ll be ok

and sounds good to me.

I am a true Gemini,

darting in two directions,

never sure which one is best,

saying wait, what

and I’ve got a new idea.

You are deliberate, methodical.

You study maps

and follow directions.

I am impulsive, whimsical.

I dash ahead

and double back.

You read the fine print,

I read between the lines.

I am seldom early,

you are seldom late.

How astrologically unsuited we are.

How happy we have been.

  1. How special to have this poem about my husband David – and a series of his photos in the same edition of the Nester. Thank you
