TULIPS: A SPRING RAINBOW AT ROOZENGAARDE IN SKAGIT COUNTY, WASHINGTON

PHOTOGRAPHER: LEE LAGESCHULTE

Editor’s Note:

The NESTER returns with Lee and Roger for their annual pilgrimage to Skagit County, Washington’s tulip garden, ROOZENGAARDE.  This family-owned farm was founded in 1947 by Dutch immigrant William Roozen, on five acres, but today both family and acreage have greatly increased! Lee’s photos feature a feast of new designs and displays!

You are invited to join Lee and Roger for this spring’s Roozengaarde experience, and enjoy the visual effects of massed tulips and shape plantings! Roger’s nephew and his wife joined them for a mid-April visit to the famous gardens, and you are welcome to stroll along with the group!

TULIP CIRCLES AND MASSED PLANTINGS

SHAPES

In addition to the many tulip circles and massed plantings, each year the gardeners create shapes of color, unique “works of art.”

The rainbow shaped sign at ROOZENGAARDE has an important message for the tulips and all of us!
