KEITH OLSON – PHOTOGRAPHER – SERIES V – FALLING LEAVES & SELECTED FALL POEMS

Diverse feelings accompany the coming of the fall season.  After a growing time for plants comes the harvest, after the greens of summer come the colors of fall,  after the heat of summer comes the cool of fall, after the lingering sunsets of summer come the rapid onsets of darkness.  How are you and I to feel about fall?  Perhaps feelings are similar to the weather that can change from sunny to stormy within a few hours.

Keith’s photography and the selected poems embrace  the variety of feelings of fall.

HORSE SEASONS II – VISITING WITH HORSES – By Tim Olson

During the years of my caring for horses I found that often our friends anticipated spending time with the horses.    Horses are social and curious  animals.  While we might enjoy a cup of tea with friends the ponies will gladly share a carrot or two.  They might greet a gathering with a whinny or add a snuffle or two, mostly they are attentive participants and eager for a stroke or two in the right places.  If time permits, they  might like to go for a stroll or maybe even a ride around the property.

KEITH OLSON – PHOTOGRAPHER – A HAPPY BIRTHDAY PHOTO SAMPLER – From Lorelie & Tim

Monday, October 25 is Keith Olson’s birthday and we are delighted to publish several of Keith’s photographs.  The poet Stanley Kunitz writes “That when you look back on a lifetime and think about what has been given to the world by your presence, your fugitive presence, inevitably you think of your art, whatever it may be, as the gift you have made to the world in acknowledgment of the gift you have been given, which is the life itself. ”  Thank you, Keith, for sharing with us your marvelous photographs of the world we live in everyday.

SALMON SUMMERS IX – SALMON SEINING SEASON -By Tim Olson

I’m a lower state kid and the seine season begins in Ballard with boat work and net work. In mid-June the Ballard seine fleet loads the net and stores for the cruise north on the inside Passage to Icy Straits in Southeastern Alaska.  Hopes are high for the “big season”and a broom on the mast signalling a catch of over one hundred thousand salmon.

The following is a photographic and poetic journey through a summer fishing season in the early nineteen-sixties.

AN “OCTOBER FEST” OF SIGHTS – by Lorelie Olson

October provides nature’s final burst of seasonal colors from the translucent yellow of the Eastern Red Bud Tree to the flaming red of the Burning Bush.  And the anticipation of witches and goblins at Halloween on October 31.

We invite you to view a photographic potpourri to celebrate the many facets of this season in home and garden!
