You are welcomed to Cathy’s “world”.  She has published several poems in the NESTER and this post introduces you to her as a songwriter. She is a singer-songwriter in thePacific Northwest and has been writing and singing music for 30 years! She is a long-time member of Seattle Song Circle and has made several  albums, including TRUST THE RIVER.

Cathy tells me: “Rivers have always felt alive to me. I have gone to rivers for solace and renewal, to talk to them  and listen to them. Some years ago a student of mine asked me for advice – I answered him with my best thoughts – and later they became this song.”

Lorelie and I are pleased to invite you to read “A Chair in the Sun”. For us, the poems “Sometimes I Just Sits” and “A Chair in the Sun” carry special meaning at this time of year when the days are shorter and the sun is lower on the the horizon. On our deck we often move a chair to find that one spot still in full sun.

This post introduces you to a new poet, Nan Harty, publishing in the “Nester”.  Nan has written poetry for over twenty years with themes of  nature,  place, and people. A “community poet” with something to say quietly in concert with poets who gather and share in libraries, and bookstores, and living rooms all over the Northwest. She has published a book of poems, THE TELLING OF THE TREES.
Nan’s poem describes the pleasures of sitting at dusk, enjoying the sights and sounds at the end of the day.
