Mike Cohen, poet, story teller, and novelist, returns to the NESTER with a poem he describes as “ . . . perhaps a country western ballad in search of music”. Mike adds, “I like it.” We also like it and so will you. Although this is the first “country western ballad” included in the NESTER, we do have avid country music fans receiving this email. Lorelie & I didn’t meet Stan on the deck of a sail boat. We met Mary & Stan in Beaver Valley, located on the eastern slopes of the Cascades where each of us owned a vacation cabin. Didn’t take long before we discovered each had a history with sailboats and had experienced sailing adventures that filled hours of conversation. Was it written in the stars that eventually Stan and I would find ourselves hoisting the sails on Freyja for a “ONCE IN A LIFETIME SAIL”?

What we are doing isn’t working and what lies ahead is puzzling and causes anxiety. While EQUILIBRIUM’S subject is about those anxious times, ARISE is a call to action. You and I must “dig” deep and find the courage to sing a new “song”.
