THE “BIG SNOWS” IN PONDEROSA – By Lorelie Olson

While we were in Maui for the holidays, our friends Carol and Viggo were staying in the Ponderosa guest cabin with their cat Winslow. The snow came early and quickly, prompting Carol to call us long distance with their dilemma: they were marooned by the snow,  with no heat or light, and concerned about the heavy snow on all the roofs. We advised them to move into the main cabin with its big wood stove, well-supplied pantry, ample candle supply, and land line.

A CHRISTMAS DAY GREETING – From Lorelie & Tim Olson

On Christmas Day, we invite you to pause with us and reflect on the Christmas season and its significance in a our lives at this time of year.

For us, the season began with the decorating of our home, the trimming of the tree, and continued with the music, the stories, the traditions, the gifts that are both given and received, and the gathering of friends and family together to share memories of the past and to create new memories for the future.

We wish you a joyful Christmas Day!

CHRISTMAS MINIATURES II – By LORELIE OLSON

My son Karl and I have always been fascinated by miniature scenes and objects. My father’s model railroad, included not only the trains and tracks, but also the town buildings and scenery. At Christmas our love of miniatures expands to include small figurines and objects that represent all aspects of this holiday season. Make yourselves tiny and tour with us!

THE ORNAMENTS OF CHRISTMAS – By LORELIE OLSON

Each year as we decorate our trees, our ornaments remind us of the people and experiences in our lives. We think of the family members and friends who gave us many ornaments as gifts, and try to recall when and where we purchased the others. These ornaments are small symbols of our interests, travels, and family heritage, and we invite you to take a close look.

SHADY GROVE VI – CELEBRATIONS & HOLIDAYS WITH NEIGHBORS – by Tim & Lorelie Olson

We soon found our neighbors friendly, helpful and ready to enjoy spontaneously  gathering together for  afternoon happy hours, potlucks, and conversations about our community, PONDEROSA.  Within a few months we became involved with the PONDEROSA COMMUNITY CLUB and our circle of friends grew to include property owners through out the community.  We were on our way to becoming “locals.”

SHADY GROVE IV – GUESTS & SUMMER FUN -BY Lorelie & Tim Olson

Mid-May to Mid-September is SUMMERTIME in Beaver Valley.  In the spring wildflowers – especially lupine, balsam root and nootka roses invite us outside to enjoy the blue, yellow and rosy pink colors of the flowers and warmth of the sun.

Right from our front door trail trails invite us to hike up the ridge, along the river  and into the forests that surround us.

Soon, friends arrive to enjoy the bounties of this place with us.
