SPRING IN THE CASCADE FOOTHILLS – Photographers Maureen mitchell & Toni Olson

Spring is a spectacular time in the East Cascade foothills, with blossoming fruit trees, shrubs and trees leafing out in shades of green, and showy, colorful wildflowers.  Sunny, warm days encourage leisurely drives through the foothills and walks to lakeside beaches.

You are invited to join neighbors Maureen and Toni and enjoy the sights they capture with their cameras during this special season!

TRACEY SIEDENBURG – ARTIST – “LITTLE BIRD BOOK TO CELEBRATE SPRING”

I love little birds and Spring! With that as inspiration I recently took a delightful online class from The Wild Ink Workshop with an English Artist, Lucia Leyfield, on making little illustrative books (4 1/4”x5 1/2”) with a bird theme.  I learned a “trouser” book format using one sheet of paper to make the base then adding pages with different techniques in watercolor, colored pencil, ink and paint pens to complete the project.

What fun I had creating each page! I hope these pages bring a smile to your face like they do mine.😊

HANS WEINBERG – PHOTOGRAPHER – SKY, MOUNTAINS, SEA SCENES FROM ALASKA’S PANHANDLE OUTER COAST

I had met Hans, a salmon troller and Sitka resident, at a party at Paul’s and Toni’s home in Sitka. When I stood next to his docked troller, the Patience, I tried to imagine fishing the North Pacific Ocean in a twenty-five foot boat.  Recently, I mentioned to Paul and Toni that I was looking for photos to accompany Carole’s LETTERS FROM ALASKA that we would be publishing in the NESTER. Paul responded that he had two folders of photos from Hans that I might like to check out. I had no idea what a treat waited for me and that I would have the opportunity to share his stunning photography with you.

Do take this opportunity to visually experience Southeast Alaska’s outer coast in pictures from a photographer who has fished on the ocean for many years.

SUSAN REYNOLDS – PAINTER – SERIES X

The goal of my paintings is to lead the viewer into my world of nature thru abstracted images. I paint because I love the process, from color, composition, line, form and intuition. I approach my work with passion and creative choices.

Landscapes, birds and animals are my current subject matter. As I paint I commune and connect with nature. In the beginning I draw what I see and it becomes what I feel.

KEITH OLSON- PHOTOGRAPHER – WINTER SCENES – CLOSE UP

Keith invites you to spend a day with her and her camera in Greensboro, North Carolina.  Begin in the morning after snowflakes have fallen during the night and covered the earth with their white brilliance.  Take pauses during the day; watch the birds and squirrels in their search for food and water and notice how the snow changes the earth into a new reality.

Stay bundled up and enjoy how the street lamps glow and create interesting shadows.
